Diane, Gemma and Chryso at Fitter Feet for Life would like to reassure all our patients that we are open as usual.

We are stringently following NHS advice regarding the spread of coronavirus disease (Covid-19).

Please do not attend if you have recently visited a high risk area (area 1 on the NHS 111 website - www.111.nhs.uk) or have been in direct contact with someone diagnosed with Covid-19.

Government advice is to self isolate for seven days if you have a new continuous cough and/or a high fever above 37.8c. If a member of your household is showing symptoms of Covid-19 you should ALL self isolate for fourteen days. You should call NHS 111 if your symptoms are worsening but please do not visit your GP or other healthcare environment unless you are told to do so.

We are very happy to move your appointment to a later date if the above applies to you.

If you are over 70 or a high-risk patient you should socially distance yourself, avoid group gatherings and keep your distance from others when you go out.

This does not mean you cannot access healthcare. If you are a high-risk patient we are happy to offer you an appointment with gaps between yourself and the patients before and after so you minimise the risk of cross infection.

If you are fit and well and show no signs of nCovid-19 we are happy for you to attend your appointment as normal.

All of our premises have hand washing facilities and hand gel and our staff have all been well-trained and are being kept updated on government advice.

You can book on line or telephone to book your appointments. Nadira and Christina are taking calls to help you arrange your appointments.

Keep healthy

Diane , Gemma and Chyso
Love your feet!

Shin Splints in Runners and Shockwave therapy

Preliminarily evidence suggests that shockwave therapy can be effective for runners who develop shin splints.

The muscle attaching on the front of the leg is called the anterior tibial muscle. Due to various abnormal running styles this muscle can be strained while running causing it to partially pull away from the tibia - the shin bone.

Shin splint syndrome causes many runners to give up the exercise they love because of pain at the front of the legs.

Fitted Feet for Life is a centre of excellence for studying running styles. You will be filmed running and the film will be observed in slow motion so that we can find out what is causing you pain. We can provide shockwave therapy to treat Achilles tendinopathy, shin splints and plantar fasciitis. We also provide custom-made orthotics to realign the foot to a better position so that you can start running again.
