July 2022 Newsletter David Carrique Sánchez is returning to Spain at the end of July. If you see him regularly please book an appointment to see him before he goes. We are hoping he will return next year. Advances in foot surgery Fitter Feet for Life's Consultant Podiatric Surgeon Diana Nicholl FCPOdS has just arrived back from an advanced surgical training scheme in France. She visited NEWCLIP TECHNICS who have created the FOOTMOTION PLATING SYSTEM - plates and screws for advanced foot surgery. These essential components of modern foot surgery are made from solid titanium blocks using state-of-the-art mapping technology to fit the plate to the bone. Newclips plates are anatomically designed to fit the different bone contours of left and right feet, not 'one size fits all.' Diane is impressed by the added strength of the repair that the plates and screws support. These features allow much faster healing times and faster times back to normal footwear after surgery. Diane says that using these plates during her training allowed bigger bunion & hallux valgus deformity to be corrected with ease. Diana is available at Fitter Feet for Life Monday to Friday for appointments to discuss foot surgery. She has...

Pressure Plate Gait Analysis
In addition to slow motion gait and posture analysis using a treadmill and video cameras, Fitter Feet For Life offers pressure plate gait analysis which offers a more detailed analysis of your movement. Computer sensors in the floor measure the pressure under each part of your foot. Higher pressures cause pain and degeneration of your foot structures. These sensors also measure the time you spend on each foot, and the speed each of footstep. Feet that exhibit different measurements have been show to cause an abnormal pelvic and lumber spine movement. This type of asymmetry can be responsible for pains in the lumber back, hips and knees. The sensors are connected to a computer which analysis your movement and provides a comprehensive report, charts and graphs which help your podiatrist assess your gait and determine how best to help you with, for example, the correct orthotic prescription. Watch videos of the pressure plate analysis pressure plate gait analysis shows where you weight is.

Osteopathy
Osteopathy: Back Pain Lower back pain has reached epidemic proportions in the western world. Research shows that 60% of the UK's population will suffer from it at some stage during their lives. Back pain responds well to osteopathic treatment – reducing pain and restoring mobility and quality of life. What is osteopathy? Osteopathy recognises that much of the pain and disability we suffer stems from abnormalities in our body's structure and function.Osteopaths diagnose and treat problems with muscles, ligaments, nerves and joints to help the body's natural healing ability.Treatment involves gentle, manual techniques – easing pain, reducing swelling and improving mobility. Often, this involves manipulation which can result in an audible ‘crack' which is simply the sound of gas bubbles popping in the fluid of the joints.Osteopathy does not involve the use of drugs or surgery. The scourge of back pain Lower back pain now affects two-thirds of the adult population of the UK; it is the nation's leading cause of disability.Four out of five people will suffer back pain lasting more than a day at some point in their lives.Over £480 million a year is spent on services used by sufferers of back pain, including 14 million GP consultations,...
